In 2014 and 2015, ExRMed (formally known as Backpacker Medics) ran a series of proactive community health programs in Okhaldhunga district, Nepal. The mission was to provide free, accessible healthcare to the local population and to train local health workers.
Some of the highlights of the program include:
Moonlight Healthcare Center
A healthcare center was established in Kerausagawara village, which was staffed by local health workers and supported by ExRMed volunteers.
Women’s Health Program
Australian Healthcare Student Placement
Edith Cowan University paramedic students were able to conduct clinical placements in the MCHC to gain experience and training in community health.
